It’s always nice to be rewarded, isn’t it? No matter how old one gets, being singled out for an accomplishment or good work is just great for the ego. I’ve not won any massively impressive awards for my blogging, but I do have a little bling and some honorable mentions for my efforts.
You can now keep up with my recognitions — some real and some imagined — on my Accolades and Bling page. Take a look-see when you have absolutely nothing better to do.
You’ll see that several of the badges were presented to me by other admiring bloggers. I was happy to be recognized, and it is my pleasure to now pay the bling forward to bloggers I admire.
Sadly, I can only single out seven blogs, but no fears as there will be more recognitions on Dating Dementia in the near future. If I didn’t mention you, then I apologize and place all blame on my midlife brain that is hanging on by only a tenuous, frayed thread. I recently described my memory as “just one glass of Merlot away from the great abyss of nothingness.” I forget who I said this to and where I was, but I found it written on a wine-stained cocktail napkin at the bottom of my purse.
Taking notes is always a good idea.
Now, on to the first award, The Versatile Blogger, that sports a very cool green badge, pictured above. Presented to me by the very cool blogger Marci Rich who pens The Midlife Second Wife, a blog that gives all of us divorced women hope for future happy relationships. Marci, thank you.
Here is my list of seven blogs that I admire — in no particular order.
Since My Divorce — Mandy Walker writes about the pain and renewal of divorce mainly from the female perspective. Always interesting, this blog allows readers to walk in the footsteps of those who have traveled the divorce path and come out the other side.
Girlpower Marketing — Women make 85% of the household buying decisions, but men continually miss the mark in how to influence them. Linda Landers sets the record straight in her insightful blog. Sign up to get Linda’s blog updates and you will not be disappointed.
Barb’s Blast — Last year, Barb won the Erma Bombeck Global Humor Award (not Irma as I originally wrote…sorry!). Need I say more? Okay, I will! Barb is always funny, quirky and she just plain makes me laugh. Check out her blog and go back often to enjoy her take on life.
Marrying George Clooney — When I first started blogging, someone told me about this funny midlife blog written by Amy Ferris. The blog has evolved and now the play “Marrying George Clooney” is set to debut in NYC — I’m sure a must-see!
My Life in Contradictions — Sarah started blogging in 2011 to chronicle her life (attorney by day, parent and partner in her personal life). I love her honesty and how she often writes stream of consciousness about her life journey.
Hyperbole and a Half – Incredible original drawing and such hilarious text by Allie Brosh. You have to tune into this blog and you will be so glad you did. Add it to your RSS feed immediately! Rumor has it, she is writing a book. Can’t wait.
Bern This — Jessica Bern has been blogging since 2007 about life after divorce, single parenting, relationships and more. She is a sought-after speaker and is currently writing a book. If you don’t yet read her blog, the you must start immediately. Truly, this woman is funny.
So now these seven bloggers are tasked with singling out seven blogs they enjoy reading and passing along the Versatile Blogger badge to others. Go on, don’t make me ask you again!

Well thank you very much Nancy! I only started blogging in December 2011, actually, though I wish I had started in 2008! I appreciate the shout-out!
Ooops, I corrected that! Glad to pass along the shout-out…and thank you again for highlighting Dating Dementia! Best, N
Nancy, great way to start the new year! It’s always wonderful to share the writing wealth. I love that bloggers are not competitive but rather supportive. What a concept! Keep up the good work and I’ll keep reading.
Tammy! You are in the next round of awards (I recently got 2)…gotta love that bling for the blog. Best, Nancy
Nancy, thanks a million – you like me, you really like me! I dig blog bling, much cheaper than real bling. (I saw a store today that had “bow-wow bling” – use your imagination. P.S. – Humorist Erma Bombeck spelled her first name “Erma” with an “E” not an “I.” (Don’t worry, I won’t tell the EBWW honchos!)
Oh my, I’m correcting “Erma” as I write. Please don’t tell the Dayton “Bombeck Police Squad!” Yes, I want that “bow-wow bling” — but first I need a dog!
Great choices, Nancy! I knew you had good taste. And I love the way the Versatile Blogger Award badge picks up the green in your banner! Enjoy!

Marci, glad we have connected! Yes, that green bling badge looks great with my header. Cheers to you! Nancy
Thank you so much Nancy for this recognition. I’m fortunate to have so many women sharing their life after divorce story. Truly, each one of them has helped me in my journey. These stories change people’s lives!
My best to you,
You are most welcome…you know I am a big fan of your writing. Yes, telling one’s story can indeed be life-changing! Warmly, Nancy
